Hello! I am so excited that you are considering being a guest on the show. This page will run you through a few extra details about what to expect during your interview along with a link to book an interview time and a quick questionnaire. After these have been completed I will send you some questions before your interview so that you can have some time to think about your answers. I’ll also send you the link to our online recording platform.

What do I talk about?

Anything!!! I give you the option to pick what topic you are most confident to talk about. We have space for all sorts of conversation topics from fibre art specifics, small business, mental health and more. It can be specific to you and your style of stitching (like stitch techniques) or even general topics important to discuss for beginners (picking colour palettes, which needle to use) or for small business owners like writing patterns, managing social media, finding inspiration and more. If you struggle with finding a topic let me know and I can help come up with some inspiration.

What if English isn’t my first language?

I am really keen to have a diverse guest list for the show and the beauty of a podcast is that it isn’t live. We edit our podcasts and are able to take out stumbling over words or if you pause to think of what to say… you can even have multiple goes at getting it right. If you aren’t confident in English – you will also be getting the questions a few days before so you have time to be prepared and write notes for yourself. We can take our time!

I’m really nervous about public speaking…

A lot of us embroidery artists are introverts and work better behind the scenes… probably why embroidery works so well for us. In my experience seeing the other person during the interview helps you to forget it’s an interview it just feels like two new friends getting to know each other. We take our time before the show to chat and feel relaxed and we are able to edit out any uncertainty throughout the interview. Feeling nerves is ok and happens a lot more than you think! Even I get nervous each time.

What equipment do I need?

You will need a laptop or computer as the recording program doesn’t work well on a mobile phone. Your device must have a working microphone and camera. You’ll also need the ‘Google Chrome’ browser (It’s free to download) as the recording website Riverside FM doesn’t work in other browsers and a pair of headphones.

When does my episode come out?

We often record months in advance so your episode may not come out for awhile but we will tell you when we know for sure what the date is.

How long will it take?

The questionnaire should take you about 10 minutes to complete. The interview we like to set aside 90mins just in case we have technical problems. The finished episode is about 20-35mins long.
